The People Shed team get their teeth into the Transylvania Trek for Charity

The People Shed team are taking on the 6-day Trek Transylvania in aid of Children Today – watch out Dracula!

Children Today is a charity close to the businesses heart as shedder Rachael Franklin has now become a Trustee after the business has supported the charity for 4 years, alongside volunteering to work in the charity shop and providing all HR services for free.

The team will start the trek by staying in small mountain villages to get to know the locals and their culture while tackling the rugged wilderness and the region’s impressive mountain ranges. Their itinerary also includes travelling out to the King’s Rock National Park which was home to the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project, a conservation programme to protect and monitor wolves, lynx and bears.

A trip to Transylvania wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the castle of Romania’s most famous son, Count Dracula which they will do on their third day.

Our team will climb over 2,400 metres above sea level and will traverse the Transylvanian Alps in order to raise vital funds for Children Today

The money raised will fund Children Today’s vital work of providing grants to children and young people with disabilities up to the age of 25 years old across the UK to allow them to purchase specialised equipment to help them with their day-to-day lives.

Our team will be beginning their trek on 16th September, to donate to a very worthy charity, please click on the link below:

About Children Today:

Founded in 1994, Children Today was created to help children and young people with disabilities up to the age of 25 years old across the UK by providing grants for specialised equipment. Often children and young people with disabilities remain excluded from a lifestyle which other people may take for granted. They want to join in and take part in the same sorts of activities or lifestyle, within their capabilities, as other children. They want to gain more independence from their parents as they get older, but are often prevented from doing so.

At Children Today we are proud to support these children and young people by providing grants for equipment including (but not limited to):

  • Electric wheelchairs and wheelchair power packs
  • Walking aids
  • Adapted trikes
  • Adapted car seats
  • Lifting aids/hoists to enable movement
  • Posturepedic sleep equipment / weighted blankets
  • Sensory equipment including bubble tubes
  • Specialist seating including P Pod support systems

Children Today relies entirely on voluntary donations. We receive no funding from the government or NHS. It is donations made by our generous family of supporters which enable us to provide these vital funds for families across the UK.
